The Competition

The second year for the ThoughtShift Charity Football Shield was a smashing success. Bringing fantastic Brighton businesses together for a brilliant day of football. RocketMill, Plus Accounting, iCrossing, Trusted Housesitters, ABN Amro and Seed Publicity made the competition a wonderful day.

Limbering up before the event the teams were looking on good form. Knees creaking, the smell of deep heat wafting through the air along with a sense of anticipation as the teams eyed up the competition.

Kick-Off

First match on pitch 1 was RocketMill v Seed Publicity. RocketMill scored the first goal of the tournament and Seed Publicity the first win with the result 1- 2.

Trusted Housesitters v ABN Amro kicked off proceedings on pitch 2 which concluded in a 0-0 draw.

Warming up on the side-lines were 2018 champions Plus Accounting and returning tournament veterans iCrossing.

Plus Accounting played ABN Amro next and won in a tight game 2 – 1.

iCrossing came up against Seed Publicity taking the win with a 3 – 1 result.

With the first few games of the tournament out of the way, form had been sized up and game plans were being stratergised. The competition was heating-up and the gloves were off.

The Final

The afternoon sun shone and as the supporters lapped up the rays. The players were getting hot and bothered as the games intensified with some excellent football from all sides.

With title holders Plus Accounting being knocked out in the semi-finals. Trusted Housesitters and iCrossing were through to the final and both teams could taste victory.

It was an intense game as they battled for the title. The crowd was behind both teams all the way. Trusted Housesitters played a fantastic game, but iCrossing wasn’t going to give up easily. As the game ended on a draw taking it to penalties iCrossing snatched the title, winning on penalties and just pipping Trusted Housesitters to the post.

Player of the Tournament was awarded to Doug from Trusted Housesitters who the referees all agreed played outstanding football throughout the tournament.

Everyone played brilliantly. Sore muscles, fantastic camaraderie and most importantly Brighton businesses coming together to raise money for a fabulous charity, The Clock Tower Sanctuary.
